images are a universal language, so let me tell you a story  | I have been a photographer for over 30 years In that time I have travelled to over 30 countries and used many different cameras from a 10x8 Linhoff Technica to a Box Brownie. Since 1998 I have been exclusively digital, and that is where the images on this site come from. You can buy any of the images you see on this site, as a print, a postcard, framed or even on a t-shirt. This is the world through my eyes, please stop a while and let me know what you think. Light is the photographers most powerful tool
 | The use of creative lighting can transform a photograph into a work of art. Lighting is not simply about illuminating an object it is also about shadows and highlights. How they can be used to bring out the character of a face or the beauty of a building. Lighting can set the mood or show the action, the presence of a shadow creates a depth and feeling in portraits that lets you feel you really know the subject. Wherever possible I use natural, available light, if I have to use extra light, I rely upon tungsten lamps rather than the harsh blast of flash. I always try to be aware of lighting when I am shooting, and when given the choice of pushing the film speed or using additional lighting, I will always go for pushing the film.
